Grade 7 Volleyball Girls Win OLGC Tournament Oct 14th
Congratulations Girls! After playing 3 single games against 3 teams CCS was undefeated. The next match was the gold medal. Our girls managed to edge their opponents to win the tournament. All girls received medals and took a picture with the "big trophy." Those early morning practices seem to be paying off... eh girls? If you all play hard, smart and together in the last two games this week you'll be ready for the playoffs. Go United!

Parent Basketball Coaches Wanted!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As we enter into the basketball season we are calling on parents that are interested in the sport of Basketball to contact Mr. Klaponski. mklaponski@ccsunited.ca
If you plan on watching your child play why not sit in the best seat in the gym by becoming a coach? Teacher sponsors/coaches will be assigned to you and training is available by request.
But if your child is not in grades 5, 6 or 7 then you still might want to coach a team.
Get your School SERVICE HOURS for your volunteering time by reffing or coaching.

Cross Country Season Comes To An End :(
Well... I certainly had a good time training and working with the Cross Country Runners this season. We attended 2 meets and ran hard, smart and together at both. In PE the students have been learning about participating at their best (HARD), using game and race strategies (SMART), and playing as a team (TOGETHER). I think the training paid off. Some highlights were our two top ten finishes at the CISVA meet (Grade 2... 7th and 9th) and when one of our runners finished a race with only one shoe. Stay tuned for a cross country assembly as soon as I receive awards.
Thanks to all parents who drove this year and especially to KG for volunteering at the last minute to be a race official at the CISVA.
Did you know that during the CISVA meet the school receives a rank based on points? But it is the least points that wins! (First place receives only 1 point) For us to place as well as we have shown last track season we will need to enter more intermediate students next year because each empty spot of the 6 for each grade costs us 75 points. Wow!

Cross Country Blast
What a day! CCS students were running hard in the wind and sporadic rain today along the beach at Boundary Bay Park. The excitement and enthusiasm of the athletes at our school's first meet certainly raised the spirits of the runners and spectators who came out... it also helped take our minds off of the temperature (burrr!).
A good lesson learned was to always come prepared for the weather (jackets, sweatpants, we even had a toque today) "It sure felt like fall" -anonymous. We can't wait for the CISVA meet on Tuesday!
Check the school calendar and click on the event and map to get good directions. There is some parking next to the stadium but also off Boundary Rd or Imperial street... there is a little walk to the stadium from these locations so plan ahead. CCS sure appreciates all of the parent drivers and when drivers take the time to check the directions on line. It helps us leave the school in a timely manner and causes less disruption to classes.

Get updated and Immediate information about CCS Athletics games, meets, events...etc.
Coach __________ (insert coach's name here), is there practice today? What time does it start? When do we leave the school for our game? If you have had any or all of these questions you can get most of them answered just by checking the school calendar or the PE/Athletics Blog. But if you want the latest info emailed directly to you...
...get it by signing up for the PE/Athletics Blog. Be the first and tell someone about it!
If your child is in Athletics at CCS it will really be helpful to you.
