What I need to do to prepare well for the hike

The weather looks good for us tomorrow but the day will be more comfortable if you prepare properly TONIGHT!!!  Remember we need to be at the school at 8am and we return to the school for pick up at 4pm.  Also, let me remind you of essentials that you will want to do and bring. 
Get a good night’s rest and eat a healthy dinner.  Go to bed early!
Pack a backpack with…
·         Walking or Running Shoes
·         Extra clothes (light wind breaker or sweater… dress in layers)
·         Food (2 healthy snacks and a lunch)-include a bag for packing out your garbage
·         Water (2 liters of water minimum) –also it is smart to leave another water bottle in the vehicle for when you return from the day’s activities.
·         Medications or Epipens – please let your teacher know the whereabouts of these items.
·         Sun Protection –Hat, sunscreen, long sleeve shirt
Hiking Essentials NOT to bring (as classroom teachers will carry these)
  • Fire making kit -Waterproof Matches/Lighter
  • Pocket Knife
  • Extra Water (teachers will carry extra for emergencies)
  • First-aid kit
  • Emergency Space Blanket
  • Headlamp/flashlight
  • Whistle/Mirror
  • Map/Compass
