Thank you to our CCS Families, Teachers and Volunteers

Today's CCS gr 2-4 meet was another great success.  So many smiles and good feelings going around among the school tents.  I noticed a lot of "United" attitude as I saw athletes working HARD, SMART AND TOGETHER!
During the track and field season I often receive a lot of thanks from the kids and families but the people behind the teams at CCS are not often mentioned or may not regularly know that I and others are grateful for their actions.  I want you to know how much I appreciate the sacrifices CCS Families, Teachers and Volunteers make to support our school.  The little things like preparing your children each day to have their shoes, strip, and good nutrition help us be ready.  Other things like connecting with each other for arranging rides and working with your other family commitments.  Big things like volunteering early on permission slips, coaching teams, training athletes and those that lend a hand setting up tents or cleaning up afterwards without looking for the service hours.  So thank you for everything.  I appreciate your sacrifices.  Our families here at CCS rock!
A special thanks to Tom and Karen for their concessions today and over the years.  Know that your positive attitude and generous example is much appreciated.

CISVA Events and Information

Today I handed out the events for the CISVA as most of the the assignments have been determined by the track team coaches.  If your child has a white paper then they have been chosen.  It is important that rides to the meet be determined and that you plan to have your child arrive 45 min ahead of their event time as the meet can run ahead of schedule. Departure time from CCS is 1 ½ hours before their posted event time. Traffic/parking are challenging for this meet. A full meet schedule can be found on the school calendar... just click on the details of June 3 or 10th.  If you have any questions please email me at mklaponski@ccsunited.ca.
Cheer for CCS as we continue to prepare.  Remember we are a team and you all share in any success we have... we are only able to enter one athletes into each event.

CCS Mini Track Meet Wed May 20th (12pm) is going to be a great time!

Just a reminder that gr 2 students that have signed up and gr 3 and 4 track and field students will be participating in our CCS track meet at our school next Wednesday.  Any gr 2s not signed up with a permission slip will remain in the school under supervision.  The students will eat an early lunch and then head out to the track.  Parking after school will be difficult so plan appropriately. There will be 5 other Catholic schools joining us.

Track and Field "Thanks for your hard work" notices and Buzzer Beater Basketball future practices

Today I sent home some notices thanking certain athletes for their hard work and diligent training.  If your child  received a notice they no longer should attend our after school practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  We are training individual athletes for their specific events at the CISVA meet on June 3 and 10th. This is a qualifying meet so we have selected athletes that qualify to represent our school... 1 athletes for each race/event.   Gr 2-4 still have one track meet at 12pm on May 20th at our school.

Monday May 25, June 1 and June 8th will be our final three practices.  I have been pleased with the commitment athletes have shown to improving their skills during the days in between our Monday gatherings.  I have seen small improvements... but greater than this has been the attitude at these practices.   Excellent!!!

Knights of Columbus Track Meet at Bear Creek Park Sat May 9th

It is going to be HOT HOT HOT!  Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your event.  The meet starts at 8:30am.  Also, hide from the sun throughout the day and drink regular sips of water.  There may be opportunities to organize children and for the safety of everyone please keep the children close as the park is open to the public and I expect the water park to be very busy.  I have 3 CCS volunteers to hand out ribbons at the finish line but it would be great to provide them with a break so please step up and look out for each other.

Holy Cross Track Meet competition and Knights of Columbus Meet on Saturday

Wednesday we had our latest track meet and with our 55 athletes I believe we made a good showing.  The schools in Surrey all performed great and look really strong this year.  We actually had a grade 3 boy break a school record in the 800m but you'll have to ask me or look on the CCS record board at the front office if you want to know his name;-)

The next school meet is Saturday.  Please arrive 30 prior to your event so that your athlete can warm up properly.  I look forward to the racing under the sunny skies.  Posted events are outside the school office but please be prepared for changes that may occur when we are at the track.

What? CCS Gr 5 soccer won the CISVA Championship!

It was a wonderful tournament last Monday when our gr 5 girls soccer team coaches by Coach Tara and assisted by Coach Walter and managed by Mrs. P took the ultimate award.  Outstanding is all I can muster to say after all the preparation... years of recess soccer too... that led to their success.  Way to go!
