!!!NEW!!! CCS sports club grades K, 1, and 2
I just wanted to give a shout out for our new sports club that runs on Fridays after school. We will be going for five Fridays before December and then reevaluate the program. the dates are October 11th 12-1pm, October 18 3-4pm, November 1st 3-4pm, Nov 15th 3-4pm, and Nov. 22nd 3-4pm. Mr. Klaponski will be supervising the gymnasium or field practice and volunteer parent coaches will be directing the drills. It is necessary that a parent of each child attend the practice to help supervise the little ones from the sideline while they learn different skills. An adult responsible for the child must be in attendance. Attend the first session to get your permission slip and to see all the action.

CISVA Cross country championship update
Well I can't say it was very nice as it showered basically all day long but there sure was a lot of positive catholic schools around that made the day wonderful. CCS really dug deep and our athletes gave it their best. We even had a first place result for a grade 3 girl runner. Way to go CN!

CISVA Cross Country Meet ***10:45 am start!*** Wed Oct 2nd
The school calendar start time was wrong and I just fixed it. The meet begins at 10:45am so CCS drivers will need to depart for the meet at 9am. This way we will not be rushed and we will be well prepared for this big event that includes all the CISVA schools. There is no need to first meet at the school unless you are offering to drive someone. Please inform Mr. K of your driving arrangements. Thank you if you have made yourself available to drive another athlete. I will be telling athletes which race they will be participating in on Monday, September 30th.
Wednesday, Oct. 2nd
(We will leave the school at
9:00am) Time: 10:45-2pm
The
CISVA Cross-Country meet (Gr. 2-7) is at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby. This is a
rain or shine event so dress your child appropriately. This meet has a
competitive and non-competitive portion. All students will participate in 1
run. The 4 students with the fastest
times from each age group will compete in the competitive run (with the option of the Fun Run, if they have
enough energy to do so). All other
runners will take part in the fun run. Cross Country Coaches will decide the 4
runners that will participate in the competitive race. The distances run will be the same regardless
which race your child is in. The meet
will begin at 10:45am and the races
will continue in this order:
Gr.2 Girls beginning at 10:45am and
continuing boys and girls every 15 minutes.
Intermediate and Primary “Fun Runs” will occur
after the Grade 3s.
Grades 2 & 3 1.2 km Grades
4 & 5 1.8 km Grades 6 & 7 2.4 km
After
each meet you may head home after your child has run but only after signing out with the teachers.

Soccer games are now set, players have been placed on teams, permission slips sent home and available on the website
The following was our rational for organizing our soccer teams this year...
Dear Senior and Junior Boys Soccer Parents,
Dear Senior and Junior Boys Soccer Parents,
Welcome to the 2013
CCS Junior soccer season. We are excited
to build on the soccer training that your boys received last year in PE classes
and at team practices. There are over 30
players signed up to play for the junior and senior teams this season with a
wide range of soccer skills and experience.
Our goal is to develop the virtues of fair play and teamwork as well as to
provide playing time and skill development for all players. To achieve these goals we will be grouping
the players in a way that best suits their skill and experience. Players have been assigned to teams that will
set them up for individual success.
Please take careful notice of the games your child will be
attending.

cross country update
Well it rained today and we did our best to keep them dry for the practice. We used the gym when it began to pour. Please do your best to arrive on time at 8:15 so that we can speak to the children together and get them properly warmed up. I want to apologize for the practice information on the school website. It should have read grades 1-7 practices. Grade 1s can continue to practice with us even after the Sept 23rd meet... grade 1s only meet. Only one week until our first meet.
