Grade 4-7 Tryout for the Holy Cross Junior Crusader Boys Basketball Team

The tryout for the Holy Cross Junior Crusader Boys Basketball Team will be held at the Holy Cross gym on
Sunday September 29th from 2:30pm-4:30pm.
We have two teams that both play in the ultra competitive Metro League that competes at the Langley Events Centre. If you are a boy in grade 4-7 and thinking about attending Holy Cross High School in the future you are eligible to tryout.
There will be one practice a week and one game a week. All games occur on Sundays and practice times and days will vary.
This program is for any boy that is planning on attending Holy Cross in the future and wishes to play basketball at a very high level. The goal is to build relationships that can continue on through their years at Holy Cross.
The tryout is free for everyone but there will be a onetime cost for the program upon being selected to the team.

Rain or Shine... Is practice still on?

Jr soccer practices will not be cancelled as we can use the gym in the morning if it rains.  Games... prob not too!
Cross-Country practices will be cancelled if it is raining in the morning so look out the window and come if it looks clear.  If it rains during practice we'll supervise the kids in a classroom.
Sr soccer will most likely not be cancelled  for practice or games so come prepared for the elements.

Jr Soccer and Cross-Country Practice Conflict of times

We are inviting jr soccer players to consider joining cross-country as well this year.  While there is a conflict of practice times... the boys will be training much longer distances during their soccer practices so they will be well prepared for the 2 cross-country events on Mon Sept 23 and Wed Oct 2nd.

Welcome back CCS

Boy am I glad to be back getting ready for a new year.  There are so many reasons to be excited about coming back to CCS and in PE and Athletics we are preparing for another fun and interesting year.  Last year we learned three new or unfamiliar sports... cricket, floorball, and gaelic football.  In addition we had a great flag football tournament and our second annual grade 2-4 Mini Track Meet.

But now back to this year.  If you are just reading this for the first time and want to know how you can support CCS PE and Athletics please contact Mr. Klaponski pe@ccsunited.ca and he would be happy to involve you in our programs.  Everyone who may be considering volunteering as a driver for off campus events and games should get their Criminal Record Check so they can take other children who do not have a ride.  This is the only way you can get the service hours for driving to games.

If you needed a reminder, some areas that require volunteers are...
Sept - gr 5-7 Volleyball and gr 4-7 Soccer coaches, gr 2-7 Cross-Country driving, field + lawn maintenance
October - mini hoopers basketball supervision (year long on fridays), soccer and vball referees
Nov - Jan - basketball coaches and refs, cup stacking tournament director, skating supervision

Feb - Tournament Concession Volunteers
March - gr 4-7girls soccer coaches and drivers
April - track meet timers and field workers (fun times in the sun), drivers
May - CCS concession volunteers
June - Fun Day,
Please contact Mr. Klaponski if you are interested... Anytime!  He will keep you in mind for when the time comes.  It is best for our school if help is given where and when it is needed plus you'll be able to get those family service hours checked off easily.
